The Difference Between Fluoroplastic Release Film and Silicone Film

Engaging in the die-cutting operation of mobile phone accessory products requires a certain understanding of material matching, classification, discrimination, etc. However, mobile phone accessory products involve a wide range of material types, and each material is subdivided and different, with different differences. Today, when it comes to fluoroplastic release films and silicone oil films, there is not much difference in appearance between the two release films, but what are the specific differences and classifications? Fluoroplastic release film Fluoroplastic release film is also called Fluoroplastic release film, ETFE, Fluoroplastic film, PET Fluoroplastic release film. It is widely used in the adhesive manufacturing process of industrial products such as PI, green high-temperature adhesive tape, silicone double-sided adhesive tape die-cutting, thermal conductive silicone tape casting, etc.

Engaging in the die-cutting operation of mobile phone accessory products requires a certain understanding of material matching, classification, discrimination, etc. However, there are many types of materials involved in mobile phone accessory products, and each material has different subdivisions and differences. Compared to silicone oil film, there is not much difference in appearance between theFluoroplastic release film and silicone films, but what are the specific differences and classifications?

Fluoroplastic release film

Fluoroplastic release film also called fluoroplastic release film, ETFE, fluoroplastic film, PET fluoroplastic release film, they are widely used in the adhesive manufacturing process of industrial products such as PI, green high-temperature tape production, silicone double-sided tape die-cutting, thermal conductive silicone tape casting, etc.

According to the different applications of fluoroplastic release films, products can be divided into the following three categories:

Wet coating: refers to the uniform coating of silicone on the release surface as the substrate, and the silicone enters the oven for high-temperature curing and molding, which is called wet coating;

Hot sticker: placed at the bonding area, PET or PI coated with silicone still adheres to the fluorine release film when there is residual temperature. The fluorine release film does not need to enter the oven for high temperature, and is called a hot sticker;

Cold bonding: bonding silica gel products, such as 3M silica gel, Double-sided tape 9731, 3M9119, 3M4377, etc., are processed by punching, or are made into finished products required by customers. The manufacturing process is conducted at room temperature without involving temperature, which is called cold bonding.

PET silicone oil film, also known as PET release film, is a layer of silicone oil applied to the surface of PET film to reduce its adhesion and achieve release effect. It can be divided into single-sided release film and double-sided release film; According to the release force, it can be divided into light release membrane, medium release membrane, and heavy release membrane.

Application scope:

PET release film has been widely used in industries such as packaging, printing, circuit boards, laser anti-counterfeiting, lamination, electronics, sealing materials, reflective materials, waterproof materials, pharmaceuticals (plaster paper), sanitary paper, adhesive products, die cutting and stamping processing.

The common characteristics of fluoroplastic release film and silicone oil film are:

1. Both are based on PET, and the product surface is coated with 0.2um-0.6um release substance;

2. The surface is flat, smooth, and evenly coated;

3. No creases or tears;

4. No defects such as particles, bubbles, pinholes, etc;

5. Small thickness tolerance and high transparency;

6. Low thermal shrinkage and good flexibility.

The difference between fluoroplastic release film and silicone oil film:

If we get these two materials, how do we distinguish them? Actually, there is no obvious difference between the two materials and silicone oil film, and their appearance is almost indistinguishable. Therefore, to understand the differences between the two materials, the following points can be analyzed:

1. The ETFE will not react to the silica gel surface, and the release force is stable; The silicone oil film will react and cannot peel off;

2. Price differentiation: the price of ETFE is relatively high, while that of silicone oil film is relatively low;

3. MY-2G is used to test the release force of ETFE, and TESA7475 is used to test the release force of silicone oil film;

       4. In the selection of die-cutting materials: generally, silicone tape is paired with fluorine film, while acrylic tape is paired with silicone oil film. Of course, the materials selected for different products may also vary.
